Info exchange - tips
We have had our 15' for about 5 years and can honestly say that it has paid for itself many times over in money saved on baskets, starts and veggies and the pure pleasure we get all year round. Our only complaints are that they do not make a larger one and that we do not have enough room for a second one. I thought it would be fun if other gardeners would share some secrets. I recently was doing some Rose cuttings in the greenhouse and brought in aphids, which quickly spread to my pepper plants in the greenhouse. Normally, I would have cleaned the plants with soap and water (you must do it three days in a row). This time I tried something new I had read. I put banana peels on the plants and a piece on the soil for both the roses and peppers. Unbelievably, after two days there were no more aphids - IT WORKED.

Cucumber
I find that if I put sliced cucumber on an aluminium pan and put it close to the plants it will get rid of most insects. It has something to do with a gas that is put off by the cemical reaction of aluminium and cucumber. It even helped get rid of the wasps when I put the pan by the upper vent.
Slugs and Snails
Everyone knows about feed slugs beer. What I have found is that both slugs and snails do not cross "cooper". It has something to do with giving them a shock. I put a cooper pipe infront of my greenhouse door to keep them away. Around the back window I have cooper tape.
Thanks for the tip
Thanks for the information LL Auburn. I had never heard of the banana peel remedy. I will give this a try if I get aphids in the greenhouse. Dobson

We have always had good results with 1-2 sprayings with soap & water, but have also heard about the banana technique. After hearing aobut your success we will try the bananas too. Thanks for sharing!
